Supplier checks work best when the documents match the actual factory, product and destination market. A company logo or a general certification list does not establish compliance for a particular order.

1. Check the Manufacturing Facility

For an amfori BSCI or SMETA assessment, review the facility name and address, audit date, scope, findings and follow-up status. Sedex is a platform used to share information; SMETA is an audit methodology. Customer programs such as FCCA, SCAN and Disney FAMA have their own requirements. Confirm what your buyer requests for the specific production site and project.

2. Check the Material Claim

For an FSC claim, check the relevant certificate holder, scope and supply-chain documentation for the selected product. Recycled, biodegradable and compostable claims also need evidence matching the material and claimed disposal conditions. EUDR-related due diligence is separate from FSC certification; confirm applicability and responsibilities for the product and transaction.

3. Match Testing to the Product

Match the test plan to the product classification, materials, intended use, user age group, destination market and retailer requirements. Depending on the product, applicable requirements may include EN 71, ASTM F963, ASTM D4236, CPSIA, REACH, BS 7272, LFGB, RoHS, food-contact requirements, formaldehyde, TPCH packaging requirements, PFAS and other relevant requirements. EN 71 and ASTM F963 do not automatically apply to every school or office item, and no single test report covers all stationery categories.

4. Read the Report Details

Check the tested item, materials, colours, model or reference number, test method, report date and laboratory. Confirm that the report covers the product being ordered and that changes in material or design have been considered. A laboratory report and a manufacturer or importer declaration perform different roles.

How SHINYYOU Supports Your Project

We coordinate factory assessments under amfori BSCI, SMETA (Sedex), FCCA and SCAN, support project-specific Disney FAMA authorization requirements, and offer FSC-certified sourcing options and EUDR-related traceability support where applicable. Available documents depend on the selected factory, product and order. We coordinate specifications, sample review, material checks, production quality reviews, packaging and labeling checks, corrective action and reinspection, and pre-shipment inspection. Where required, relevant testing or inspection may be coordinated with BV, SGS, Intertek, TÜV Rheinland, Eurofins or QIMA.
